The UFC 106 Main Event has been changed from a title fight to a non-title fight. Mainly because of the withdrawal of UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar to defend his title against unbeaten Shane Carwin due to an illness that has forced him out of training camp for nearly a month.

The UFC Heavyweight Championship was re-scheduled on January 2, 2010. This is the date of UFC 108 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Stepping up into the UFC 106 main event slot will be the highly-anticipated rematch between former light heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin.

So it would be UFC 106 Ortiz vs Griffin 2, the UFC 106 is scheduled on Nov. 21, 2009 at Las Vegas, Nevada.

The last time this two met was during UFC 59 bout in April of 2006, a bout that Ortiz won via split decision. The bout will be Griffin’s first since suffering a first-round knockout loss at UFC 101 in August to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Ortiz is coming off of a major loss as well, as he last fought in May of 2008, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to current UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, in a bout that many thought would be Ortiz’s swan song in the UFC.
