It was almost 2 months ago since I got my first Netbook ever that I ordered online at Dell. I got this Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 a week after our stay at Hotel Sofitel. I need this Dell Mini 1012 for my personal use and also because I don’t want to quarrel with my son Miguel when he is playing games on our desktop.
I got my new net buddy exactly in time and I am truly satisfied with its specs although a 10-inch Netbook is quite small for me but I like it as I can bring anywhere. This Mini 1012 is just good for my hobbies like blogging, social networking and online streaming.
Here are the Specifications of my new Dell Inspiron Mini 1012

As I’ve said I bought my Dell Mini 1012 online so I got it for a little bit lower at $299 plus tax and delivery fee which totaled to $348.51 USD equivalent to 16K PHP not bad than those here in the Philippines. Last time I checked it was P22,900 in Electroworld if i’m not mistaken.
I had it delivered to my dad’s house in Carson, CA then he asked my uncle who visited here in Manila to give me my new mini laptop. Sad thing though the corrupt immigration saw it and had the chance to bribe my balik-bayan uncle but he refuses instead he paid the appropriate tax for my gadget.

Inside the box of my new Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 were AC adapter, Inspiron Mini manual, Dell warranty card, Dell PC restore CD and Windows 7 Starter back-up DVD. I didn’t saw a accessories that is appropriate for my Dell Mini 1012 so I opted to buy the screen protector and keyboard protector here.
What i like about this Mini Netbook of mine is that I feel like I customized it my self. I bought this on Dell build your own system so I took the most possible options out there.
I just love the look and its simple design, the glossy obsidian black top finish combined with the white glossy body. Add it with almost full size 92% keyboard and a big touchpad that makes scrolling up and down a bit easier than any other Netbook.

Although Netbook like this Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 were built just for daily computing and for internet surfing, I can still play some low-end games like plants vs zombies and even counter-strike and still I’m satisfied considering that it only have Intel NM10 Express graphics card.
Positive note on my Review of Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 is that this netbook that I got were already pre-installed with Windows 7 Starter Edition plus I got this with extra additional free components such as McAfee Anti-Virus Free for 15 months not to mention the 2GB Dell Datasafe Online that is already included when I bought this little machine.
It also have its own Dell Dock were in all the programs you needed is organized in front of your desktop and it has auto-hide feature. But since the screen of this Netbook is little in size so it is inappropriate to have this on screen so I had to closed it.
The downside on this Dell Mini and other netbooks that I also like such as Acer Aspire One AO532h is that it does not have dvd-rom but it is surely compatible to external DVD optical drive.
I also noticed that the start up eats a little time with approximately 1 minute to start the windows, maybe because it is only backed up by a 1GB of RAM. So I am still thinking if I will change my Mini 1012 memory to 2GB which is the highest possible for netbooks.
Another thing is the non-flexibility of the Windows 7 Starter as it is a little bit limited on its functions like the wallpaper and theme can’t be change. Well for me I have to use a little trick to be able to change my desktop wallpaper. I have to use Stardock Mycolors to change themes and able to use my own images as a wallpaper.
Above all these things I am purely satisfied with my first Netbook Dell Inspiron Mini 1012.
